Pond Surrounds
These are pre-shaped surrounds that enable the simple construction of a square, circular or semi-circular pond. They are mostly employed for the creation of shallow ponds to accommodate a free-standing fountain centre-piece, or to place against a wall from which a mask or gargoyle spouts. They can be used to surround a free standing preformed pond, to accommodate a liner when they have a separate coping, or can be concrete lined and water proofed.

Patio Ponds
For confined spaces, intimate corners or the patio terrace, patio ponds are ideal. They bring the prospect of a water feature to the every home owner, together with the opportunity of moving water to many who are unable to have a conventional pond. Not that the inability to have a conventional pond should be considered to be the only reason for having a patio pond, for it is a viable and valuable water feature in its own right, not merely a second best option for those with limited space.

Miniature Waterscapes
There are great opportunities for using sinks, trough and other similar containers for creating miniature waterscapes. Recent further developments with pygmy waterlilies and the increasing availability of other dwarf aquatic plants of various kinds has also fuelled the development of containers specifically for creating such features. No longer are old traditional sinks and troughs the only source of container, although for many they are still highly favoured.

Tub Gardens
It started with discarded barrels being sawn in half, but nowadays tubs and barrels are manufactured specifically as water garden features. These can accommodate various moving water features as well as smaller growing aquatic plants. For traditional barrels waterproof liners that fit them very neatly are readily available.

Fish Ponds
Of course fish can be kept in most ponds and it is desirable to do so, even in a small water feature, not least of all to control mosquito larvae. However, there are those whose first choice are the fish, the plants and often the aesthetics as well, coming a distant second to the pleasure of fish culture. Goldfish are the most useful and can be introduced to a mixed decorative pond, or kept in a special pond, or for the traditional fish-keeper with a traditional oriental leaning, a special large ceramic bowl.
